Ingredients of Plain tadka:

  • 1 cup whole moong daal
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 5-6 cloves garlic chopped
  • 1 tsp green chilli paste
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp cumin seed
  • 1 bay leaf
  • To taste salt and sugar
  • As needed oil

Method for "Plain tadka":

  1. Wash and soak the daal for 2-3 hrs
  2. Boil the daal with salt and turmeric powder
  3. Now heat the pan and temper cumin seed and bay leaf
  4. Add onion slices saute well
  5. Add ginger garlic paste and saute well till the raw smell disappears
  6. Add green chilli, salt and turmeric powder and mix
  7. Add urad daal and boil until it is combined with the masalas
  8. Add sugar and mix well
