Ingredients of Plain tadka:
- 1 cup whole moong daal
- 1 onion chopped
- 5-6 cloves garlic chopped
- 1 tsp green chilli paste
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp cumin seed
- 1 bay leaf
- To taste salt and sugar
- As needed oil
Method for "Plain tadka":
- Wash and soak the daal for 2-3 hrs
- Boil the daal with salt and turmeric powder
- Now heat the pan and temper cumin seed and bay leaf
- Add onion slices saute well
- Add ginger garlic paste and saute well till the raw smell disappears
- Add green chilli, salt and turmeric powder and mix
- Add urad daal and boil until it is combined with the masalas
- Add sugar and mix well
